Vintage Cabouchon rhodium plated pendant depicting the head of a horse in the middle

This is a beautiful high quality item of Cabouchon vintage costume jewellery. The bail - the part of the pendant that goes over the chain - has the inside measurements of 9 mm x 5 mm so it will fit a fairly thick chain.

The item is rhodium plated depicing the head of a horse in the middle.

The head of the horse has been made using the relief sculptural method in which the sculpted pieces remain attached to a solid background of the same material. To create a sculpture in relief is to give the impression that the sculpted material has been raised above the background plane. In this case the head of the horse is in fact raised above the background plane.
